Ruth Schlesinger, M.S., L.Ac

Blossom Healing Center

Ruth is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, specializing in fertility and assisting women during the course of the their pregnancies, labor, birth and post-partum periods.

She also works with gynecology, emotional imbalances, pain management and the treatment of addictions.
Ruth holds a Masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and became a California licensed acupuncturist in 2001. She received her undergraduate degree in French and Psychology before pursuing the study of medicine. During her final year of graduate school, she went to Sichuan, China and followed practitioners in the hospital, treated patients with acupuncture and took courses at the local university in various aspects of Chinese medicine.
Shortly after she became licensed, she started working in Pacifica and opened a clinic which she called Persimmon. After having over 6 successful years at Persimmon, she sold her practice and opened Blossom Healing Center in Sebastopol.

While she was studying, Ruth became more and more interested in working with fertility and pregnancy. She is comfortable working with the entire spectrum of fertility: from charting (for understanding the peak fertile period) to supporting women during intra-uterine insemination and in-vitro fertilization. In addition, she has seen many women who have a history of miscarriages and has used acupuncture and herbal medicine to successfully hold their pregnancies. Ruth will frequently work with a woman from fertility challenges to pregnancy, support her at her birth and work with her in the post-partum period. She also works a lot with premenstrual syndrome and menopausal imbalances.

She is trained in the NADA protocol (ear acupuncture used in the treatment of addiction) and spent many years doing acupuncture at local jails and shelters, helping with drug detoxification and violence prevention. She has also co-facilitated a smoking cessation program and uses the NADA protocol in her private practice to help people quit smoking.

She has been commended on her approachability; patients report easily feeling comfortable with her and her passion for the medicine clearly shows in her work.
